Third Year Update!
Kavishna Kuruwitage is a Final Year student at the Academy of Design studying Fashion Design and Textile. Wanting to be a fashion designer since the age of 13, her childhood was filled with sketches of dresses in various forms. After joining AOD, she has polished her skills with the help of the experienced lecturers and the multitude of resources available, and is working on her final collection. We had a quick catch up with her 4 months into the final year to see how the final year is going...
‘Third Year is really stressful, and all about time management. It can be a lot of fun, but just need to manage my time properly and get the work done. We have submissions in May, and need to finish my garment as well as finish my dissertation. The lecturers are super helpful. We get scolded a bit, but it’s all to get us back on track. Sometimes we feel like we want to give up, but they won’t let us. They’ll push us and motivate us to do better... to be better. It also feels like this end. This is it. We are done after this year. It’s a mix of emotions. I’m sad and excited at the same time. I’m also scared of what’s waiting out there, but again I’m excited for that part too.’
