Getting to know Amaisha Perera, and the Young Creatives Club

For anyone getting to know AOD, one of the first people you’d see is Amaisha Perera. Whether you’ve dropped by AOD to check out what we offer, attended one of our events, or if you are a part of the Young Creatives Club, Amaisha will be there to take you through what we do and what we can offer you. Being the youngest member of the AOD team, she has a deeper understanding of the potential students and the community the new generations are living in.

Most of Amaisha’s work takes her between Kandy and Colombo organising AOD Open Days, summer camps, career months, and all the other awesome events AOD offers potential designers.

One of the coolest projects she handles is the 15 AOD – Young Creatives Clubs of leading schools in Colombo, Kandy, and Negombo. The Young Creatives Club consists of students between the ages of 15 to 19.

The concept behind the Young Creatives Club is to nurture creative talent during their time in school. Taking into consideration that the World Economic Forum of 2018 stated that the top three skills needed on your CV by 2020 are creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving, the Young Creatives Club offers a platform for students to develop their talents at a young age and truly see a future with design and creativity. The Young Creatives Club is a yearlong workshop with quarterly review/brainstorming sessions where the students receive creative brief to work on, and the best work are awarded at the end of the year.

The Young Creatives Club is focused on building a future for students who are keen on design based solutions and needs the necessary background to excel in their future journey in any industry. Amaisha, with her long term experience in understanding the target audience and the industry is dedicated to bringing about the right kind of knowledge and practices to the future of Sri Lankan work industry.
