AOD LAUNCHES A NEW DESIGN AND INNOVATION SEARCH – ARE YOU THE NEXT DA VINCI?
We're looking for the next generation of creative thinkers, innovators, artist, designers and inventors!
2020 is the 500th anniversary of one of the world’s greatest artist, designer and futurist - Leonardo Da Vinci. He can actually be credited with predicting the invention of the helicopter amongst many other things, a true visionary and creative thinker.
We want you to predict the future of Sri Lanka in the year 2120 and come up with an invention, either a tool, object, garment, gadget, app, system or even vehicle that will solve one of societies demands. But what will we need?
Step 1: Think about the future world in the year 2120, the lives we will be living or issues society will be facing
Step 2: Brainstorm and sketch a tool, gadget, app, garment, object or vehicle that will be needed
Step 3: Name your invention and write your submission
All submissions will receive an award of participation with 10 recognition awards and 1 overall winner. Prizes include a chance to have your work exhibited, award and certificates as well as summer scholarships and much more!
Criteria of judging:
- Overall creativity and ability to predict the future and develop a concept
- Analysis skills to identify a problem and think of a solution
- Sketching and visualization skills
Submission requirements steps:
Write 200-300 words describing Sri Lanka in 2120 and/or illustration of Sri Lanka in 2120
- Sketch or draw your “invention” x1 on A3 size paper
- Write 100 words that description your “invention” and name it
To enter, please register yourself via email (designcomp2020@aod.lk) with your age, school name and year level. This way we can send you tips and advice and you can participate in online workshops to help your ideas come to life!
SUBMISSION DEADLINE 1st of June 2020
Open to all O and A level school students in Sri Lanka.
