International Students

The Academy of Design is proud of its richness and the intense variety brought in by international students and welcomes people from across the globe. Nearly 20% of the student body are international students who pursue their dreams in design at AOD and transform the campus  in to an enriching and dynamic cultural nucleus through their many nationalities, religions and ethnic origins.

Choosing to study overseas is an important decision and it is vital to choose the right programme and the university for you. At AOD, we take the needs of our international students very seriously, and with a strong network of welfare and support, we continually strive to provide assistance in finding accommodation, student-visa application or any other matter related to enrolments.

Academy of Design International Student Services Include;

• Crucial advise and support in transition from home country to Sri Lanka.
• Assistance with immigration documents(i.e., CAQs and study permits).
• Orientation and information sessions.
• Information on employment regulations.
• Transfer of funds to Academy of Design.
• Help in finding accommodation and logistics in Sri Lanka.

I chose the AOD to study at because my family and I felt that it was the best place in Sri Lanka that offered design education. I have a great set of Sri Lankan friends who made it really easy to settle down. In AOD, students and staff are really friendly and helpful, so this made it really easy. Thanks to AOD I have had great exposure as a student studying fashion designing, to show my creativity not only in Sri Lanka but also in Italy and look forward to completing my degree here at the Academy of Design.

The study programmes at AOD are very advanced and industry-relevant so the students get to use their own creativity and talent to shape their work while the programmes actually help us become better designers. The fact that most lecturers and professors are from international backgrounds makes it easier for anyone to fit in.

I chose AOD because of the great environment they have created for the students, with no cultural barriers which made it easier for me to blend in. Lecturers and the Administration staff are also incredibly helpful in everything we do.
