Welcome to the Academy of Design (AOD), Colombo’s premier undergraduate education institute in Design. AOD has gained an enviable reputation for Design Education and has established itself as a centre for excellence in the area of design. It is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka and fills a great void in the country and commits all its resources to one area; the study of Design.

The Academy delivers international qualifications in Fashion, Interior, Graphic and Jewellery Design. AOD is approved by the Ministry of Tertiary and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka, to conduct higher learning programs. It is accredited by London Examinations, BTEC Edexcel International a Leading provider of UK qualifications around the world. The qualifications brought to the students come from an examining board with a rich history in academic and vocational assessment and the qualification obtained is widely sought after and recognized both locally and internationally.

At the Academy students study an international curriculum and receive a design education that is on par with the rest of the world. Students learn to discover and develop their ideas and create a vision of their own. They study in a stimulating environment, under the guidance of a faculty with international exposure and experience. After students successfully complete their first exit point (HND Programme) they could continue on to a Bachelor’s degree in Sri Lanka or apply for employment through the Academy’s active job placement service or take advantage of the Academy’s facilitation service, enabling students to progress to study abroad up to Masters Degree level or students might opt to do the final year of the BA degrees in the UK, Australia or Singapore.

All programmes offered by the Academy equip students with the skills and knowledge to seek employment in the field of design both, in Sri Lanka and internationally.
